Egg Timer

Pick soft, jammy or hard boiled and get an alarm when your egg is ready.

How long to boil an egg

  • Soft and runny, set white and runny yolk: 5 minutes
  • Jammy, creamy centre: 7 minutes
  • Hard boiled, firm yolk: 10 minutes

These times suit medium to large eggs lowered into gently boiling water. Egg size, how cold the egg is and your hob all change the result, so adjust by a minute either way to suit your taste.

How to use the egg timer

  1. Bring your water to a boil and lower the eggs in.
  2. Choose Soft and runny, Jammy or Hard boiled, then press Start straight away. You can also type your own time.
  3. When the alarm sounds, lift the eggs out.

Stop the cooking

Put the eggs into cold water straight after the alarm. It stops them cooking further and makes them easier to peel.
