Coffee Timer
Time your brew to the second and get an alarm when your coffee is ready.
How long to brew coffee
- AeroPress: often 1 to 2 minutes
- Pour over (V60 or similar): about 2 minutes 30 to 3 minutes 30 in total, including a 30 to 45 second bloom
- French press: about 4 minutes
These are typical starting points. Follow your own recipe, and adjust by 15 to 30 seconds to taste.
Tips for a better cup
- Use water just off the boil, not at a full rolling boil.
- Start the timer the moment the water meets the coffee.
- Change one thing at a time, such as grind size or brew time, and write down what you tried.
- If it tastes bitter, try a shorter time or a coarser grind. If it tastes weak or sour, go a little longer or finer.
